1936 – 2014
William “Bill” James Rooke of Tillsonburg and formerly of Dereham Centre, passed away at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband of the late Peggy (Atkinson) Rooke (1981) and his longtime companion Eileen Cadotte (2007). Loving father of Sandra Thompson (Mike) of Springford, Sharon Butcher (Greg) of Tillsonburg and Allan Rooke (Lori) of Tillsonburg. Cherished grandfather of Dylan, Tiffany, Randy and Lora. Bill is also survived by Eileen’s family, a brother-in-law Alan Pick and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a grandson Shadoe, a brother Robert Rooke, sister Carol Pick and sister-in-law Jean Rooke. Bill was affectionately known as “The Candy Man” to the ladies at the Tillsonburg Town Centre Mall. He was employed for many years at Esseltine Garage and Livingstons Industries. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Robinson officiating. Interment to follow in the Delmer Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
