Obituary for Johann "John" Meyer

Johann "John" Meyer
Meyer, Johann (John)

Passed away in Tillsonburg, Monday, August 25th, 2014 in his 93rd year.

John was born on January 7th, 1922 in Bremen Germany, and whistled his way through life! He was a talented writer, inventor, sculptor, painter and builder of many things, but actually made his living fixing the impossible. John immigrated with his family to Kitchener in 1955, moving to Tillsonburg in 1962 where he worked for many years at Fleck Manufacturing and Mastico.

John will be missed by his devoted wife of 69 years, Margret (nee Wolters), his four children and their spouses, Frank and his wife Esther of Tillsonburg, Uwe and his wife Andrea of Port Hope, Uta and her husband Gary DeVos of Langton, and Una and her husband Uwe Wetzel of Hernando, Florida.

Opa was a great role model for his four grandsons and will be dearly missed by Jeremy Meyer, Jason Meyer and his wife Kim, Darryl DeVos and his wife Sonya, and Michael DeVos and his wife Michelle.

John was blessed with 7 adoring great grandchildren who will miss his handcrafted toys, Kyle, Kaitlyn and Kaiya DeVos, Courtney and Maddison DeVos and Ethan and Ava Meyer.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Carriage Hall, 25 Brock Street W., Tillsonburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Salvation Army or Humane Society would be appreciated by the family and can be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home (519)842-5221 who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
