Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jerome Van De Slyke can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Jerome Van De Slyke passed peacefully surrounded by family at Tillsonburg Hospital on March 15th, 2017. Survived by his beloved wife Bertha (nee Down) and two children, Katherine (Adrian and Jay) and Charles (Kendahl, Jordon and Jade). Predeceased by his parents Raymond (1980) and Irene (1929). Originally from East Flanders Belgium, Jerome came to Canada in 1927. Jerome was a lifelong tobacco farmer, served on many municipal boards and committees over many years, last Reeve of the township of Middleton and the first Mayor of the newly formed township of Norfolk. Jerome will be lovingly missed by his family and many good friends. Family and friends will be received at the Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell St. Tillsonburg (519) 842-5221 on Saturday March 18, 2017 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. with a Liturgical Service at 3:30pm. An evening visitation will also be held on Saturday from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
