JAMES “JIM” EDWARD SMITH (1932 – 2017)
Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Maple Manor Nursing Home, Tillsonburg, on Sunday, March 19, 2017, James “Jim” Edward Smith, formerly of Delmer, passed away at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband and best friend for 60 years to the Late Norma (Williams) Smith (2011). Proud and caring father of Ron Smith and his wife Bernice of Tillsonburg, James Smith and his wife Lori of Delmer and father-in-law of Vicki Smith of Aylmer. Cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dear brother of Tom Smith and his wife Barb of Tillsonburg, Norm Smith and his wife Sheila of Tillsonburg and Marilyn Carter and her husband Bill of London. Jim is also survived by his sister-in-law Doreen Smith of Tillsonburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Alan Smith, daughter Brenda Smith, grandson Michael Hughes, brothers Milt and Jack Smith and sister-in-law Pauline Smith. Jim worked for Livingston Industries for many years and was a lifelong resident of Delmer. Friends and relatives were received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service for Jim will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Robinson officiating. Interment will be held in the Delmer Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimers Society, Hockey For Everyone, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the Smith family.
