Suddenly on Wednesday June 21, 2017 Carmelo “Carmen” Agro of Tillsonburg, passed away at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital with his family by his side at the age of 79 years. Loving husband of 58 years to Marie Agro (nee Staley). Proud father to Sam Agro and his wife Beth of Toronto; Charlie Agro and his wife Lynn of Tillsonburg; and the late Jimmy (2013). Grandfather to Wesley Agro. Survived by siblings Calogero Agro and his wife Vincenza; Filippo Agro and his wife Teresa; Carmela Sardo and her husband Giuseppe; Congetta Difiore and her husband Alfonso; Giuseppina Stoddart and her husband John. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Bernardo and Rosa Agro; brother Raymond. Carmen loved his golf and was past President of Tillsonburg Golf Course. He immensely enjoyed his music and the several people he played with in the many bands. He greatly enjoyed the camaraderie and the thrill of Theatre Tillsonburg, as having also been a Past President of the Theatre; he was a Past President of Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club; he enjoyed working with the Rotary Club putting on musical shows. All of these involvements greatly increased his joy of life and others. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Monday June 26, 2017 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. The liturgical service for Carmen will commence on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ostrander’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Rev. Father Tom Ferrera officiating. Memorial donations in Carmen’s memory may be made to the Cancer Society or the Charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the Agro family.
