Iva

Iva's home was a warm and inviting place to go where you could relax and enjoy good conversation and hospitality among friends and family. She sincerely cared about people and added value to the lives of all those she touched.

Iva was well noted for her fine cuisine and we were the happy recipients of many a fine meal over the years. Iva made the finest homemade beans that were the envy of everyone. Iva was also known for her keen sense of humour and sharp wit. We were getting ready to head home one evening after one such sumptuous meal and Iva said and I quote, "Glad you enjoyed the beans, just remember to put the bricks on the bedsheets later to hold them down", end quote.

Iva was extremely proud of her family's history and heritage and would reminisce in intricate detail from the time the family first settled the area with stories about all the individuals and their contributions to the town. Iva was a friend to all and knew just about everyone from the Port Burwell and Stratfordville area. We'd be out in the backyard and many a passersby would wander in for a visit. Iva's love was unconditional and this was abundantly apparent over the years in the way she loved and took such great care of my dad and opened both her heart and her home to all of us, her extended family. In Iva's eye's, we were all family and everyone held a special place in her heart. Another rainbow touched down on March 3rd and opened a pathway to heaven. We love you, God speed, till we meet again.
