It is with broken hearts, the family wishes to announce the passing of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Anna Marie Schafer (nee Emerson), of Straffordville, ON, at the LHSC-Victoria Hospital on Friday, August 28, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 70 years. Loving wife of 48 years to her husband Matt. Admired and selfless mother to Kathy Vansevenant and her husband Jeff of Aylmer; Chrissy Barnard and her husband Derek of Straffordville; her late sons Mathew and Michael. Fun-loving Nana to Amber Schafer-Ferguson; Michaela, Kamden and Kaden Vansevenant; K.C. and Morgan Barnard. Great grandmother to Joel Schafer-Ferguson. Sister to Margaret Ketchabaw. Sister-in-law to Pat Emerson. Aunt to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents K.C. and Pauline Emerson; father and mother-in-law Mathew and Magdelena Schafer; brother Dale Emerson; brother-in-law Gene Ketchabaw; brother and sister-in-law Eva and Martin Lotz. Anna was an elementary school teacher, a past district commissioner for the Girl Guides in the Tillsonburg area and was responsible for bringing Girl Guides and Sparks to Straffordville. Anna was a Past District Deputy Grand Matron of Areme Chapter #15, Vienna, District # 4 in 1994/95. She was the organist for St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Vienna. She was a member of the Bayham Museum Board, and was a recipient of the Golden Hearts Award and other various volunteer awards. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Tuesday, September 01, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. An Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Service for Anna will be held on Wednesday, September 02, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Robert Clifford officiating. Interment to follow in Straffordville Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Juvenile Diabetes, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Vienna, The Kidney Foundation, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
