Obituary for Julien Paul Edward Versnick

Julien Paul Edward  Versnick
After a brief illness on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Julien Versnick of Tillsonburg passed away at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband of Albertine and much loved father to Dr. Eric Versnick of Truro, N.S. and Albert (Kathleen) Versnick of Dorchester. Dearest grandpa to Colin and Kate. Also survived by his sister-in-law Dorothy Versnick as well as nephews and cousins in Canada and Belgium. Predeceased by his brother Andrѐ. Julien volunteered for various organizations within the community over many years as well as a 40 year career as a physiotherapist here in Tillsonburg. He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, a navigator of the 4th degree knights of Columbus, member of the Tillsonburg Flying Club and co-ordinator for Hockey Night – THE FLYING FATHERS. Julien had an extensive aviation and flying history, amassing over 3000 hours flight time, starting with his private license in
1957, obtaining his instrument rating in the 1960’s. Ownership and extensive flying experience of various makes and models was accrued over the years including the Harvard, Cessna 195, Cessna 182, Cessna 177 and his pride and joy, a Mooney 201. He was particularly fond of aerobatics in his Harvard, and long cross country trips with a bit of weather on the trip. Friends will be received at the Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Friday,October 2, 2015 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Knights of Columbus and Parish Prayers at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. George’s Greek Catholic Church in Courtland on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 12:00pm. Father Tom Ferrera officiating . Interment in Tillsonburg Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations in Julien’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the Versnick family.
