Peacefully after a brief battle with illness, William Berg of Tillsonburg, passed away at the Tillsonburg district Memorial Hospital, on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the age of 87 years. Loving partner to Noreen Cooper. Step-father to Shirley Percival of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Brenda Tucci and her husband Frank of Mississauga, Sharon Eyben and her husband Brad of Edmonton, Alberta. Step-grandfather to Michael and Justin. Brother to Walter Berg and his wife Lydia of Richmond Hill, Dora Nowak of Kologne, Germany, Liselotte Blaas of Prien, Bavaria. Uncle to Robert, Gary, Frank, Harold, Gerd, and Doris. Predeceased by his brother Gerhard Berg. Bill was a member of the Legion for 39 years, and was a past member of the Toronto Soaring Association as a Glider Pilot. In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. A Legion Memorial Service will be held at 1:45 p.m. followed by the Memorial Service for Bill at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Salvation Army or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family.
