Obituary for Kendrick "Bill" William Banks

Kendrick "Bill" William Banks
Kendrick William "Bill" Banks
December 12, 1960 - April 5, 2014

Peacefully and at home on Saturday April 5, 2014, Bill Banks of Tillsonburg, formerly of North Bay, ended a courageous five and a half year battle with brain cancer at age 53. He was surrounded by and in the loving arms of his wife and best friend of 27 years Angela Banks (McKenzie), daughter Kayla and son Michael. He is survived by his mother, Jessie Banks (Skellern) of North Bay. Dear brother of his four sisters, Janet Villeneuve (Ron), Gladys Banks-Bryer (Keith), Rae Fournier (Bob), and Lee Chorley (Les). Also survived by his mother-in-law Verna McKenzie (Fentie), brother-in-law John McKenzie (Leslie), sister-in-law Cathy Boughner (Gary) and brother-in-law Ken McKenzie (Sandra). Predeceased by his father Kendrick Willard Banks (2008) and his father-in-law Stuart McKenzie (1994). Uncle Billy was loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Bill graduated from Fanshawe College in 1984 with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. This led him to a position at Freudenberg-NOK (formerly Armet Industries), where he was recently recognized for 30 years of service, with his last position being Business Development Manager.
Over the years, Bill enjoyed many sports, including basketball in college, baseball and curling with co-workers, golf weekends with childhood friends and was a proud Habs fan all of his life.
Family was the most important aspect in Bill's life. His values will live on in his children and they will always cherish his constant support and big heart. We will always remember his sense of humour, calm nature, and caring personality.
To Bill's Oncologist Dr. Watling, all of the nurses and therapists at LHSC and Woodstock General Hospital, family physician Dr. Lamb, as well as CCAC palliative home care nurses and personal support workers, a sincere and heartfelt thank you to each of you. Words can not begin to express our gratitude.
Visitations will be held at Ostrander's Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, on Friday, April 11th, 2014 from 7pm-9pm. The Memorial Service for Bill will be held in Ostrander's Chapel on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at 1pm with Pastor Paul Robinson officiating.
Memorial donations to The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
